improve-logo-600First impression. That’s the main reason a business needs a professional logo design and the other branding elements that come with it. I’m sure you have heard this many times before. It is one of the most important reasons but there are some others that you should consider.

Differentiation is essential, especially when you have an Etsy shop. Even if you are selling handmade bookmarks or bracelets that you make on your spare time. And here’s why: if you search for “handmade bracelets” on Etsy, Pinterest or Instagram, you will automatically get hundreds of designs from different sellers, all of them mixed with images of personal craft projects by other people who are not looking for sales. One of the tools you have to gain attention on this game is your logo.

Something that happens very often to me is that I get to a website without knowing how I ended up there and, although it has nothing to do with what I was looking for, I read part of the content and find out more about the product simply because I find the logo and site design attractive. I’m sure you know what I mean.

Why your Etsy shop must have a great logo!

Here are some of the better reasons, compiled from different articles I’ve read lately:

goldenlabel1. To look bigger and established.

Home-printed business cards or cards printed with Microsoft clipart scream “small-time vendor” to your potential clients — and that is how they will want to compensate you.  www.allbusiness.com

 2. To keep loyal customers.

Don’t let competitors tempt away your best customers. If your brand and your logo are solid, your customers will be less likely to try the new guy around the corner who has a spiffy image. www.legalzoom.com

 3. To stand out from competitors.

Flip through the phone book and you’ll see a myriad of forgettable companies. Differentiating yourself from competitors with a logo is critical to winning over potential customers. After scoping out your competition, make sure you choose a logo design that will help you stand out. www.mplans.com

If your logo was designed for your storefront 15 years ago (I add: even 6 or 7 years ago), it might not be optimized to work well on a website or on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Can the logo be sized up or down and still be readable? Does it look good in black and white? Can you derive an icon from it? Does it make an appealing button for a mobile app? If the answer to any of these questions is no, it may be time for a new logo design. www.entrepreneur.com

Do you have a logo? Is it a good visual representation of your business? Does it appeal to your target market? I would love to help you answering these questions through a free brand consultation. You can fill in the questionnaire on this link to get some free advice and start improving your image. I also own an Etsy shop where I sell custom and pre-designed logos, stationery design, website design, etc. I would be more than happy to help you create a successful brand for your business.
